Doneil Henry, 32, will focus on technical player development, mentorship, and community engagement. His role includes supporting athletes in the TFC Academy and Toronto FC II, fostering relationships, and enhancing player skills. Henry stated, “From being a supporter to player and now returning, I am honoured to be recognized as a club ambassador in the club’s 20th season.” He has a rich history with TFC, having made 101 appearances and contributing to three consecutive Canadian Championship titles from 2010 to 2012.
Jimmy Brennan, 48, will collaborate closely with Rubio to enhance player pathways and development strategies. He expressed his excitement about returning to TFC, stating, “It is great to be back with Toronto FC, an organization that holds a special place in my heart.” Brennan's extensive experience includes serving as TFC's assistant general manager and head coach of York9 FC in the Canadian Premier League.
Backgrounds of the New Advisors
Doneil Henry joined the TFC Academy in 2008 and made his professional debut in 2010. His career included stints with West Ham United, Blackburn Rovers, and the Vancouver Whitecaps, among others. He earned 44 caps for the Canadian National Team and was part of the squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, although he missed the tournament due to injury.
Jimmy Brennan began his professional career with Bristol City and played for several clubs, including Nottingham Forest and Norwich City, before joining TFC in 2007. He made 49 appearances for the Canadian National Team and was part of the squad that won the 2000 Gold Cup. After retiring from playing, Brennan transitioned into coaching and management roles within TFC and other organizations.
