Virginia Beach Implements Emergency Curfew for Minors Amid Violence Concerns

In response to a recent shooting incident that left six individuals injured, authorities in Virginia Beach have enacted an emergency curfew for unaccompanied minors at the Oceanfront, a popular spring break destination. The curfew, which will be in effect from March 13, 2023, aims to address fears of violence in the area and will be enforced from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. every weekend until the end of April.

The curfew applies to individuals under 18 who are unaccompanied by a parent or guardian within a designated “imminent threat zone.” This area extends from Rudee Park in the south to the Atlantic Ocean in the east, and includes parts of Pacific Avenue and 31st Street. For areas outside this zone, a 10 p.m. curfew will be implemented for unaccompanied minors starting March 19, 2023.
