Despite the promising findings, the researchers acknowledged several limitations. The small number of studies and the total sample size raised concerns about the generalizability of the results. Additionally, the lack of blinding in the trials may have affected the reliability of the psychological outcomes. The study did not identify the optimal type, intensity, frequency, or duration of exercise necessary for the best mental health outcomes in insomnia patients.

Future research is planned to compare exercise with cognitive behavioral therapy, a well-established treatment for insomnia, and to explore the potential of combining physical activity with non-invasive brain stimulation techniques.
