Michigan's MiEarly Apprentice Program Aims to Address Early Childhood Education Workforce Shortage

The state of Michigan is facing a significant shortage of early childhood educators, with researchers estimating that 79% of ZIP codes in the state are classified as “child care deserts.” In response, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has introduced the MiEarly Apprentice program, designed to train and retain more early childhood teachers by providing financial support and educational opportunities for current child care workers.
