NRG Media has initiated the process to sell its Wisconsin radio stations to Midwest Communications for $2.5 million, as confirmed by documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This transaction includes ten radio stations and two FM translators located in the Wausau-Stevens Point and Rhinelander markets. The sale is brokered by Kalil & Co., and Midwest Communications has also submitted a request for a local ownership rule waiver to the FCC, as the acquisition would exceed the six-station limit for the market size.

The stations involved in the sale include eight FM stations, two AM stations, and two FM translators. The FM stations are WBCV(FM) in Wausau, WGLX(FM) in Wisconsin Rapids, WHTQ(FM) in Whiting, WYTE(FM) in Marshfield, and WRLO(FM) in Antigo, among others. The AM stations include WLKD(AM) in Minocqua and WOBT(AM) in Rhinelander. The deal is expected to enhance Midwest Communications' existing cluster in the Wausau market and expand its reach into Rhinelander.
