Arianespace's Launch Capacity

Arianespace has performed one Ariane 6 launch in 2026, successfully deploying Amazon's LEO satellites in February. The company plans to conduct up to eight launches this year and aims to increase that number to 9 or 10 launches in 2027 and beyond. David Cavaillolès, CEO of Arianespace, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to sign this Ariane 6 launch contract with Katalyst,” highlighting the capabilities of the Ariane 6 as a powerful heavy-lift launcher for complex missions.

Background on Katalyst's Servicing Missions

The Nexus-1 is not Katalyst's first venture into satellite servicing. The company is also developing a spacecraft intended to reboost NASA’s Swift gamma-ray astronomy observatory, which is at risk of reentering Earth's atmosphere due to its decaying low Earth orbit. This reboost mission is scheduled to launch as early as June 2026 on a Northrop Grumman Pegasus XL rocket.
