SRM University-A.P. Hosts National Quantum Computing Conclave

On March 24, 2026, SRM University-A.P. inaugurated a three-day Quantum Computing Conclave alongside a 36-hour national hackathon. The event aims to enhance foundational knowledge and industry awareness of quantum technology among students. Notable experts in the field, including Sridhar C.V., Mission Director of Amaravati Quantum Valley; Dhinakaran Vinayagamurthy, Manager at IBM Quantum India; Uday Sannigrahi, Quantum Application Engineer at Infinipoint Tech; and Kumar Gautam, Director and CEO of Quantum Research and Centre of Excellence (QRACE) and EGREEN QUANTA, are leading training sessions, workshops, and discussions throughout the conclave.

Ch Satish Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SRM University-A.P., emphasized the importance of quantum research and education, stating, “Andhra Pradesh made a promise to India and the world on quantum technology and SRM-A.P. is proud to be part of it.” The university is recognized as the first academic partner of the Amaravati Quantum Valley Project, which aims to establish a robust quantum ecosystem in the region. Dean C.V. Tomy and Dean Somnath Bhattacharyya elaborated on the university's plans to develop a mid-sized quantum computer and a diamond-based quantum computer on campus, highlighting the opportunities in the evolving field.

Sridhar C.V. articulated the Andhra Pradesh government's ambitious vision to create a leading quantum research hub in Amaravati, aiming for it to become one of the top five global centers for quantum technologies. He noted the significance of achieving tech sovereignty for India and praised SRM University for its support in establishing the first Quantum Reference Facility in the country.

Top performers will receive internship or placement opportunities, as well as start-up support from QRACE, which serves as a research and innovation platform connecting scientists, students, and industry experts. The event is organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SRM-A.P. in collaboration with the GeeksforGeeks Student Body and the Quantum Nexus student club.
