Hong Kong Secures Five-Year Partnership with Art Basel

Hong Kong has officially retained its position as the exclusive regional host of Art Basel for the next five years, as announced by Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui. This agreement aims to bolster the city’s status as a global hub for premium arts trading and is seen as a significant step in enhancing Hong Kong's cultural landscape. The partnership will not only maintain the annual art fair but also expand its scale and influence, with expectations of attracting over 80,000 visitors annually.

The Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau (CSTB) confirmed that the collaboration with Art Basel will deepen over the next five years. This partnership is designed to promote public art education and support the development of the local art ecosystem. Law emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “We reached an agreement with Art Basel... which is of great significance.” The upcoming Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 is scheduled for March 27 to 29, featuring 240 galleries from 41 countries, including first-time participants.

The agreement is expected to have substantial economic and social benefits for Hong Kong.
