Founded in 1984 in Belo Horizonte, Sepultura originally included Max Cavalera on vocals and guitar, Iggor Cavalera on drums, and Paulo Jr. on bass. Max left the band in 1996 due to management disagreements, while Iggor departed in 2006. Since then, both brothers have pursued projects such as Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy, where they perform classic Sepultura songs. The current lineup of Sepultura features Derrick Green on vocals and Grayson Nekrutman on drums.

Andreas Kisser expressed his disappointment over the Cavalera brothers' decision, noting, “It would make sense to have a celebration at the end, for the fans, and just to enjoy ourselves onstage.” He emphasized the significance of the final concert, reflecting on the band's history and their 1996 album, *Roots*. Kisser also mentioned that the band had reached out through personal and managerial channels, but ultimately, the Cavalera brothers opted out.

While Kisser has voiced his desire for a reunion, Max Cavalera has previously indicated mixed feelings about rejoining Sepultura. In June 2024, he expressed openness to the idea but later retracted, stating that he was enjoying his current musical endeavors with his brother and did not want to detract from that experience. He articulated concerns about the implications of a Sepultura reunion on their existing projects, saying, “It won’t really make sense… I love what we have here in Cavalera now.”

Sepultura's farewell tour includes several dates across North America, starting on April 29, 2026, in Montclair, New Jersey, and concluding in Los Angeles on May 29, 2026. Their last European show is scheduled for August 2026 at 3Arena in Dublin.
