Strong Financial Performance Amid Challenges

The Ashdod Port Company has announced record financial results for the year 2025, achieving significant growth in revenues, profits, and operational performance despite a complex security environment and increasing competition from new ports. The company reported revenues of NIS 1,232 million, a 17% increase from 2024, effectively doubling its value over the past three years. Net profit surged to NIS 394 million, up from NIS 168 million the previous year, while operating profit rose sharply to NIS 155 million compared to NIS 41 million in 2024.

In addition to these financial achievements, Ashdod Port declared a record dividend of NIS 446 million to the State Treasury and awarded employees a NIS 39 million bonus. Shaul Schneider, Chairman of the Board of Ashdod Port, emphasized the company's resilience, stating, “We have doubled the value of Ashdod Port Company in the past three years. The current year concluded with all-time record profits, and the 2025 financial results are the best since the onset of competition with the new ports.”

Operational Segments and Growth Drivers

The port's robust performance was supported by activity across all operational segments. In 2025, the container segment handled 728,000 TEUs, a 7% increase from 681,000 TEUs in 2024, capturing a 39.7% market share. The bulk segment processed 9,347 thousand tons, slightly up from 9,231 thousand tons, while general cargo increased to 1,327 thousand tons, driven by a recovery in the construction sector. However, cruise activity remained suspended due to ongoing security concerns.

Nissan Levy, CEO of Ashdod Port Company, noted the company's ability to navigate challenges, stating, “The 2025 financial results of Ashdod Port Company reflect resilience, against the backdrop of more than two and a half years of a complex security situation.” He added that the company’s cash flow reached NIS 300 million, double the current year’s budget, and expressed optimism for future demand growth.

Official Statements and Responses

Government officials have praised Ashdod Port's performance amid a challenging security landscape. Minister of Transport and Cabinet Member (Res. Brig. Gen.) Miri Regev remarked, “Ashdod Port is a strategic anchor of the Israeli economy, and in a challenging security year it once again demonstrated its strength, stability, and ability to keep the economy moving forward.”

Criticism and Opposition

While the financial results are commendable, some critics may point to the ongoing security situation and its impact on operations, particularly in the cruise segment, which has faced significant disruptions. The port's leadership acknowledges these challenges but emphasizes their commitment to maintaining operational efficiency and supporting the national economy.

What's Next

Looking ahead, Ashdod Port is preparing for a potential increase in demand as security conditions evolve. The company aims to continue its growth trajectory while addressing the challenges posed by competition and the security environment.
