Wisconsin Kittens Find Forever Home Together After Rescue

In January 2023, three kittens were rescued from a hoarding situation in Wisconsin, leading to their eventual adoption by a loving family. The kittens, named Spicy Tot, Tater Tot, and Tiny Tot, were just 5–6 weeks old when they arrived at the Marathon County Humane Society on January 26. Lisa Leitermann, the executive director of the shelter, explained that the rescue prioritized the removal of mothers and their kittens to ensure their safety. The following day, the kittens were placed in foster care through the Northcentral Technical College (NTC) Veterinary Technician Program, where students could provide them with individualized attention and care.

After losing two cats, the family visited the shelter to donate leftover cat food and discovered the playful orange kitten, Tiny Tot. Upon learning that he had two brothers in foster care, the family felt compelled to adopt all three siblings. Nicole Cornele remarked, "We weren't looking to get three cats... However, there was no way that we could separate them after seeing them all play and snuggle together." The trio officially joined their new home on March 9, 2023.

Initially, the transition to their new environment involved some tension with the family's existing cat, Tuna, who displayed typical territorial behavior. However, this behavior subsided within a week, allowing the kittens to settle in. The Cornele family later renamed the kittens after characters from their favorite movie, *The Big Lebowski*, calling them Walter, Donny, and Dude, which they felt suited the kittens' personalities.
