Thousands of Nevadans joined the "No Kings" protest in Las Vegas, encountering high costs and limited space.
Organizers from Indivisible Las Vegas criticized the city for demanding over $24,000 in liability insurance and for cutting down six shade-providing trees before the event.
Despite assurances from the Department of Homeland Security, the city maintained the insurance requirement.
City spokesman Jace Radke noted that the insurance costs were determined by the insurance company, not the city.
This protest marked the first officially permitted by Las Vegas since the national movement began in 2022.
