The Rise of Hacking and Surveillance Tools Targeting Women on Telegram

Recent research conducted by the European nonprofit group AI Forensics has revealed a troubling trend among men using Telegram to engage in hacking and surveillance activities aimed at women. The study analyzed nearly 2.8 million messages across 16 Telegram communities in Italy and Spain, uncovering that over 24,000 members participated in sharing 82,723 images, videos, and audio files, many of which contained abusive content. The findings indicate that these groups not only trade in hacking tools but also promote nonconsensual intimate images, nudifying services, and other forms of digital harassment.
