Saguaro cacti can grow as tall as a six-story building and live for over 200 years. Notably, their first arms typically begin to appear only when the plant reaches around 70 years of age. Cyr's photograph highlights the impressive scale of this particular cactus, which is part of a rare mutation known as a crested saguaro. According to the National Park Service, only about 75 crested saguaros have been identified among an estimated two million saguaros in the park, making Cyr's encounter particularly significant.
