Ahoor Ramabark Fathi, a 61-year-old man from Southall, has pleaded guilty to multiple drug-related charges, including possession with intent to supply over 2,000 litres of gamma-butyrolactone (GBL), a substance associated with spiking and the chemsex scene. His arrest and subsequent conviction represent one of the largest seizures of GBL in London, highlighting ongoing concerns about drug-related crime and its impact on community safety.

The investigation, led by the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Unit, began after intelligence from Greater Manchester Police indicated that significant quantities of GBL were being transported from Manchester to London, while crystal meth was being sent in the opposite direction. Using cell phone data, officers identified three addresses linked to Fathi, two in Ealing and one in Southall. During a search of a storage container rented by Fathi, police discovered 2,256 litres of GBL, 456 grams of crystal meth, a firearm, ammunition, and £100,000 in cash.

GBL is an odourless liquid that converts to gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) in the body, with effects that can leave users incoherent or comatose. The NHS warns that the difference between a high and an overdose can be as little as one millilitre. The misuse of GBL and crystal meth is often linked to serious offences, including exploitation and violence, particularly in the context of chemsex environments.
