Disney networks will present 30 games, including 13 on ABC, which will also air the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game. Amazon Prime Video will showcase 31 games, while USA Network will air 48 games. ION will continue its tradition of Friday night broadcasts with over 50 games, and NBC will host seven games, including the WNBA Finals.

Impact of the New Media Rights Deal

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert emphasized the significance of the new media rights deal, stating, “The WNBA is coming off a landmark season in 2025, one that was defined by incredible basketball and countless memorable performances.” The league aims to leverage its expanded media presence to highlight key matchups and showcase the talents of its players.

Notable Matchups and Events

The schedule includes several marquee matchups, such as a rematch of the 2025 WNBA Finals between the Las Vegas Aces and the Indiana Fever on July 12. Additionally, the Dallas Wings will face the New York Liberty on May 24, featuring the last two No. 1 overall draft picks, Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd.

The WNBA will also introduce new franchises, the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo, into its expanding footprint, further diversifying the league's offerings.

Official Statements & Responses

Rick Cordella, President of NBC Sports, remarked on the league's return to NBC after more than two decades, calling it a "milestone moment" for both the network and the WNBA. He noted, “With the WNBA experiencing unprecedented popularity, the 2026 schedule showcases everything that defines the league today: championship-caliber teams, emerging franchises, compelling rivalries, and the game’s biggest stars.”

Criticism & Opposition

While the announcement has been largely positive, some critics have raised concerns about the sustainability of such a large broadcast schedule and whether it will translate into increased viewership and engagement.
