Iran Closes Strait
- Iran declared closure of the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday evening after reopening it a day earlier.
- Ali Akbar Velayati, adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, warned that any mischief would trigger responses in the Malacca Strait and Bab el-Mandeb.
- Tasnim News Agency said seven submarine cables, including FALCON, AAE-1 and TGN-Gulf, cross the strait, making it an internet chokepoint and prompting fears of threats to the blockade and infrastructure.
