Jeddah Tower Reaches 100 Floors: A Milestone in Architectural Ambition

The Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia has reached its 100th floor, marking a significant milestone in its construction. This achievement was confirmed by Bob Forest, managing partner at Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture (AS+GG), the firm responsible for the tower's design. The tower is projected to surpass 1,000 meters (approximately 3,281 feet) upon completion, thereby taking the title of the world's tallest building from the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at 2,717 feet.

The Jeddah Tower is part of Saudi Arabia's broader Vision 2030 initiative, aimed at diversifying the economy and reducing reliance on oil. This initiative includes several ambitious projects, such as the NEOM development, which features various futuristic sections like The Line, a carbon-free city, and the Oxagon, intended to be the largest floating structure globally. Despite some reports of canceled contracts within the NEOM project, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, governor of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), stated that no projects have been canceled, although some have faced delays.

Construction of the Jeddah Tower began over a decade ago and has experienced delays. However, it is currently expected to be completed by August 2028. As of now, the tower is reported to be more than halfway complete, having reached the 50 percent mark around the 83rd floor.
