Meta Layoffs
- Meta Platforms will lay off about 8,000 U.S. employees (?10% of its workforce) on May 20, 2026.
- The firm will also cancel about 6,000 planned hires to boost efficiency amid heavy AI investment, Chief People Officer Janelle Gale said.
- Affected workers will receive at least 16 weeks of base pay, two weeks per service year, and 18 months of COBRA coverage.
- Meta expects 2026 capital spending of $115-$135 billion for AI infrastructure.
