History

Historical Context

On 13 September 1993 Israel and the PLO signed the Oslo I Accord, creating the Palestinian Authority and committing Israel to phased withdrawals from Gaza. The 1994 Gaza–Jericho Agreement began the five-year transition, while Oslo II in 1995 divided the West Bank into Areas A, B and C. Today’s drone strikes in Beit Lahia and renewed cease-fire talks echo that fragile interim framework.
