Historical Context

When Israel struck Hezbollah launch sites in Deir El Zahrani, Reman and Al-Saamiya in April 2024, it recalled the 34-day 2006 Lebanon War that began on 12 July 2006 after Hezbollah’s border raid and ended with UN Security Council Resolution 1701 on 14 August. In that war Hezbollah fired roughly 4,000 rockets, a pattern of contested ceasefires that still shapes today’s clashes.
