The 34-day 2006 Lebanon War began on 12 July 2006 when Hezbollah ambushed Israeli troops, prompting Israel’s air-strike campaign and a UN-brokered cease-fire under Resolution 1701 on 14 August. That truce forced Israel’s withdrawal, deployed the Lebanese army and UNIFIL, and recorded roughly 4,000 Hezbollah rockets fired.
