Jeffrey Epstein’s London Flats: Evidence, Police Response, and Calls for Inquiry

The “Epstein files” identified four Kensington flats rented by Jeffrey Epstein, where six women alleged abuse. He purchased 53 Eurostar tickets (33 after Giuffre’s 2015 complaint) and made ten trips in the months before his 2019 arrest, 16 days prior. He funded courses for five women and was linked to 120 flights.

Virginia Giuffre reported in 2015 that Epstein trafficked her to London. Metropolitan Police interviewed her but found no criminal allegation against a UK-based individual, so no investigation. The force said it is aware of reports on Epstein-linked London properties, but no criminal allegations were made by the six women, so no investigation launched. It says it remains fully engaged in assessments.

BBC messages show Epstein paid rent, furnished flats, and provided visas. Women reported sleeping on sofas, pressure to recruit others, and rebukes such as “brat who has yet to accept responsibility,” while a tenant sent him photos of “cute” models.

Critics say the Met’s claim that no criminal allegations were made contradicts survivor testimonies of abuse and recruitment. Tessa Gregory called the lack of a UK probe “staggering.” Kevin Hyland, Anti-Slavery Commissioner, said “people are outraged that somebody came forward and said, ‘I was trafficked by this man’, and yet he was just allowed to carry on.” Lisa Phillips urged inquiry to address “what went wrong and how to prevent it in the future.” A second woman lodged a complaint in early 2020; police have not confirmed action, and Epstein’s use of UK airports and flights remains under review.
