Israeli Strikes in Gaza Violate Ceasefire, Killing Civilians and Police

Between 24-27 April 2026 Israeli attacks in Gaza City, Beit Lahiya, Khan Younis and al-Mughraqa killed at least 12 people, including six police officers, and nine additional civilians, among them Huda Juma Ramadan Al-Attar and members of the Al-Ashqar family.

The 10 Oct 2023 ceasefire followed the Oct 7 attacks; Gaza’s Health Ministry now reports over 72,000 deaths, 172,000 injuries, and more than 2,400 cease-fire breaches, while Israel says strikes target Hamas militants.

Israeli military confirmed a Gaza City strike against Hamas but declined comment on the Khan Younis police-vehicle attack, saying it was ‘looking into’. Gaza’s Interior Ministry condemned the police targeting as complicity that encourages violations against civilians protected under international law. Health Ministry reported food and medicine shortages, and trucks at 150-190 daily, below agreed 600.

Witnesses in Khan Younis reported Huda Juma Ramadan Al-Attar was shot while preparing breakfast for five children. Residents near the Kuwait Roundabout said an Israeli drone strike killed a motorcyclist.

Israeli military confirmed the Gaza City strike but did not acknowledge the Khan Younis police-vehicle attack, creating divergent casualty figures. Sources differ on police deaths (six vs. eight) and on whether some strikes fell inside or outside Israeli deployment zones.
