- The National Development and Reform Commission ordered Meta Platforms to unwind its roughly $2 billion acquisition of AI startup Manus on 27 April 2026 and banned foreign investment in the company.
- Meta said the deal complied with applicable law and expects an appropriate resolution.
- The commission gave Meta weeks to restore Manus’s Chinese assets after summoning co-founders Xiao Hong and Ji Yichao to Beijing in March 2026 and barring them from leaving the country.
