Historical Context

December 2022 New Zealand passed the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Amendment Act, banning tobacco sales to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009. Inspired by that law, the UK’s Tobacco and Vapes Bill, cleared in Parliament from November 2024 to March 2026, will apply the same ban from 1 January 2027.
