UAE Leaves OPEC
- UAE announced on April 28, 2026 it will leave OPEC on May 1, ending six decades of membership.
- The exit removes OPEC quotas that limited how much of its capacity the UAE could sell, giving Abu Dhabi freedom to manage output.
- Analysts say price impact will be limited, but by 2027 the UAE could raise output toward a 5 million-bpd target, weakening OPEC’s control and forcing Saudi Arabia to consider deeper cuts.
