European Parliament Expands

The European Parliament advanced a €2 trillion budget, roughly 10 % larger than the Commission’s draft, adding digital-economy taxes.
MEPs voted to omit repayment of the €165 billion Next Generation EU debt from the 2028-2034 multi-annual budget.
The resolution passed 370-201-84, backed by the EPP, S&D, Renew and the Greens.
MEP Siegfried Muresan urged funding for defence, competitiveness and sectors such as agriculture and fisheries.
