NCAA Board Advances Eligibility
- NCAA Board directed the Cabinet to advance a “five-for-five” eligibility plan giving athletes five seasons after turning 19 or graduating high school.
- NCAA President Charlie Baker said he is “pretty optimistic” the rule will pass, with a vote possible May 22, 2026.
- Board chair Tim Sands said the change won’t apply retroactively to seniors, allows pregnancy, military or religious mission exceptions, and drew criticism from Tyler Nickel while coaches welcomed it.
