Titan Submersible Implosion: The Dawood Family’s Loss and Aftermath

On 18 June 2023 the OceanGate Titan submersible imploded while descending toward the Titanic wreck. Five aboard were businessman Shahzada Dawood (48), his son Suleman Dawood (19), OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, explorer Hamish Harding, and diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet. Contact was lost three hours after launch; U.S. Coast Guard called the event a “catastrophic implosion” and a “preventable tragedy.”
