Story summary

Showrunner Dario Scardapane turned episode 7, “The Hateful Darkness” (aired April 28 2026), into a killing of Deputy Mayor Daniel Blake (Michael Gandolfini).
Although the original script had Buck Cashman (Arty Froushan) point a gun at Blake and walk away, CGI added a gunshot flare and blood.
Gandolfini learned of the alteration in October 2025, approved it, and said Cashman shoots Blake after Blake refuses to betray journalist BB Urich (Genneya Walton).
