ISTA Researchers Restore Superconductivity
- Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) researchers showed UTe2 regains superconductivity between 40 and 70 Tesla after losing it around 10 Tesla.
- Modic and Zambra identified giant transverse magnetic fluctuations and devised a cantilever-based “wiggle” method that measures susceptibility while pulsing fields from 0 to 60 Tesla in a tenth of a second.
- High-field labs have adopted the technique, and Modic said it may reveal a superconductivity type with applications decades later.
