UN Warns Famine
- The United Nations warns 7.8 million South Sudanese will face acute food insecurity from April to July 2026.
- FAO, WFP and UNICEF say 56 percent of the population is in Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Phase 3 or higher, among the world’s highest levels.
- The IPC analysis projects 73,300 people will face Catastrophe (Phase 5) and reports 2.2 million children suffer acute malnutrition, with 700,000 at grave risk.
