Rachel Zegler-Starring “Evita” Set for Broadway in Spring 2027

The London-based revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s *Evita* will move to a New York Shubert theatre in the spring of 2027. The production is directed by Jamie Lloyd and will be produced by The Jamie Lloyd Company with Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals, under an arrangement with LW Entertainment. Rachel Zegler will reprise the title role of Eva Perón.

The show opened at the London Palladium in June 2025, ran a sold-out 12-week limited season, and closed in early September 2025. Critics praised its stripped-back aesthetic and the balcony performance of “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.” *Evita* originally debuted on Broadway in 1979 (Patti LuPone, Mandy Patinkin) and was revived in 2012 (Elena Roger, Ricky Martin); a 2019 concert staging at New York City Center did not proceed to a full run.

The signature balcony rendition of “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” will not be reproduced on Broadway.
