UAE Leaves OPEC
- The United Arab Emirates left the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its sister group OPEC+ on May 1, 2026.
- The UAE said the exit follows an extensive review of its production policy and reflects its long-term strategic and economic vision, including accelerated investment in domestic energy production.
- The departure cuts OPEC’s capacity by about 15%, lowering its share of global oil exports from roughly 40% to around 30%.
