Historical Context

Dubai’s 2016 AEC One office, printed by COBOD and WinSun, demonstrated commercial 3D-printing by extruding 1,200 m² of reinforced concrete in 17 days. The earlier 2015 Yaroslavl residential prototype, printed by SPECAVIA, showed the technology’s viability in Europe before the Dubai showcase. Building on that proof-of-concept, COBOD’s BOD2 printer produced PERI’s ViliaSprint² shell in Bezannes—800 m² completed in 34 days—signalling Europe’s shift toward faster, lower-waste construction.
