Bank of England Holds
- The Bank of England kept its Bank Rate at 3.75% on 30 April 2026.
- The Monetary Policy Committee voted 8-1 to hold rates, with chief economist Huw Pill dissenting.
- Governor Andrew Bailey warned oil above $130 a barrel could raise rates to 5.25%, inflation to 6% and unemployment to 5.6%, and lift mortgage payments £80 a month, energy bills 16% to £1,900 and food inflation around 7%.
