Edward Zwick’s “Asymmetry” Stages Star-Studded Adaptation of Lisa Halliday’s Novel

Academy Award-winning producer Edward Zwick will direct and co-produce a romantic drama titled *Asymmetry*, adapted from Lisa Halliday’s 2018 novel. The film stars Richard Gere as author Ezra and Diana Silvers as editorial assistant Alice. Co-writer Marshall Herskovitz joins Zwick as a producer under the Bedford Falls Company. FilmNation Entertainment and Rainmaker Films are co-financiers; FilmNation will launch international sales at the Cannes market and share domestic rights with CAA Media Finance Group.

Halliday’s debut was called “a literary phenomenon” by The New Yorker and listed among “15 remarkable books by women…” by The New York Times. Barack Obama included it in his 2018 best-books list. Zwick previously produced the Oscar winner *Shakespeare in Love* and directed *Legends of the Fall* and *The Last Samurai*.

Richard Gere, known for *Pretty Woman*, and Diana Silvers, noted for *Booksmart*, lead the cast. Halliday co-writes the screenplay with Zwick and Herskovitz. The Bedford Falls Company produces alongside FilmNation and Rainmaker, which also provide financing.
