Iran Judiciary Executes

Iran’s judiciary said it will handle detainee cases outside normal procedures and will not halt executions despite UN criticism.
Two protest-related detainees were executed, including 21-year-old karate athlete Sassan Azadvar Joonqani, in Isfahan.
The UN reported least 21 executions and over 4,000 arrests since war began in February.

Iran Judiciary Executes

Amnesty International documented that thirteen of the executed men were tortured and forced to give confessions during brief trials.
Three men were hanged at dawn on May 3 at Mashhad’s Vakilabad Prison, according to the judiciary’s Mizan news agency.
Human rights groups said the trials contained legal ambiguities and labeled the men political prisoners.
Iran Human Rights warned that without EU action daily executions could persist in coming weeks.
