DOJ Probes Beef
- U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) opened a probe into Tyson Foods, Cargill, JBS and National Beef after President Donald Trump ordered it last year.
- The four firms, controlling about 85% of beef processing, have seen prices rise to highs as supplies tighten.
- The USDA Beef Plan calls for grazing permits on lands and fewer barriers for processors as the cattle herd fell to 86.2 million on Jan 1 2026, the lowest since 1951.
