  • On 6 May 2008, British divorce barrister Mark Saunders, battling depression and alcoholism, opened fire on police from his Chelsea flat after neighbours reported him discharging a shotgun. A five-hour siege ensued; officers returned fire and, when Saunders lowered the weapon, shot him multiple times. He died shortly after being taken to hospital.
