Background and Operational Context

Tolga reflects battlefield observations from Ukraine and the Middle East, where cheap drones have forced defenders to waste costly missiles. Earlier Turkish-Hungarian cooperation placed Aselsan’s SARP 120/M remote weapon station on Katica UGVs, showing a modular unmanned combat precedent. The new integration adds radar, electronic-warfare and kinetic interception layers to a mobile platform.

Technical Architecture and Performance Data

The Gökbörü X-band AESA radar uses four 16 kg modular panels for 360° azimuth and 60° elevation coverage, refreshing data at 2 Hz and detecting objects as slow as 0.1 m/s. It can spot DJI-Phantom-class UAVs at 2–7 km, track up to 100 targets and command three weapon stations on a moving UGV or six in a fixed site.

The 20 mm Tolga Revolver, a gas-operated weapon firing 20×102 mm NATO rounds at 1–1,500 rpm with ~990 m/s muzzle velocity, is mounted on a turret under 650 kg (weapon 118 kg). The turret rotates 360°, elevates –30° to +70°, and features servo-stabilization, EO/IR tracking, ballistic computation and remote firing. Its fragmentation rounds use a pyrotechnic delay fuze to release >=20 high-velocity fragments, forming a cloud effective to ~1,000 m. The system also offers 12 mm and 35 mm options, the latter reaching 4,000 m.
