Sexual Arousal Heightens Men’s Objectification of Women, Independent of Personality Traits

Four laboratory experiments with a total of 675 heterosexual men examined the “Arousal Hypothesis of Sexual Objectification.” Experiment 1 (n = 154) showed that men who viewed erotic images rated women’s sexualized physical attributes as more desirable than mental attributes, even after controlling for relationship status and Dark Triad traits.
