Character Backgrounds
Bane was created by Chuck Dixon, Doug Moench and Graham Nolan, debuting in 1993’s *Batman: Vengeance of Bane*. In the comics he is a native of the Peña Duro prison on the Caribbean island of Santa Prisca, the son of King Snake, and a test subject for the super-steroid “Venom”. He later travels to Gotham, where he famously breaks Batman’s back. Deathstroke, aka Slade Joseph Wilson, first appeared in 1980’s *The New Teen Titans* #2, created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez. Enhanced by a supersoldier serum, he is a former U.S. Army soldier turned mercenary. His narrative includes a vendetta against the Titans after his son Grant’s death, and his other children Joseph and Rose later join the Titans to oppose him. He has battled Dick Grayson, Batman, Green Arrow and the Justice League.
