EU Reinstates Syria Deal
- The Council of the European Union reinstated the full EU-Syria Cooperation Agreement, ending the 2011 suspension.
- The repeal restores all 1977 trade provisions, lifting bans on Syrian oil, petroleum products, gold, precious metals and diamonds, and signals EU commitment to re-engage and aid Syria’s economic recovery.
- The European Commission will notify Syria and the decision takes effect immediately, with provisions starting the first day of the next month.
