EU bans Brazil
- The Commission announced that Brazil will be excluded from the EU’s meat exporter list, banning Brazilian beef from entering the EU on 3 September 2026.
- EU states voted to update the list after confirming Brazil’s breach of rules banning growth-promotion antibiotics and those reserved for human medicine.
- Irish Farmers’ Association president Francie Gorman welcomed the ban but said Brazil must create a database and prescription-tracking system before beef can enter the EU.
