Rivian Rolls Out In-Vehicle AI Voice Assistant

Rivian is delivering its Rivian Assistant AI voice assistant to all Gen 1 (R1T, R1S) and Gen 2 (R2) EVs via an OTA update. Activation uses “Hey Rivian” or a steering-wheel button and requires an active Connect Plus subscription, enabling hands-free control of drive modes, climate, ride-height, frunk and range estimates.

First shown at Rivian’s AI and Autonomy Day in December 2025, the assistant runs on Rivian Unified Intelligence—a multimodal AI framework that fuses custom large-language models with vehicle data via the vehicle’s Zonal architecture and in-house silicon.

Integrated with the digital owner’s manual, it answers model-specific troubleshooting.
