Iran Unveils New Strait of Hormuz Traffic Management Plan

Iranian parliamentarian Ebrahim Azizi announced that Tehran will soon unveil a professional mechanism that designates a single transit route through the Strait of Hormuz, charges fees for specialized services, and limits passage to commercial vessels that cooperate with Iran. The plan follows the Feb. 28 U.S.–Israel strikes on Iran, Iran’s retaliatory attacks, and the ensuing closure of the strait. A Pakistan-mediated cease-fire began on Apr. 8, but the United States imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports on Apr. 13, leaving the waterway only partially open.
