Israel Grants GI
- Israel granted the “Negev” geographical indication on May 11, officially recognizing the Negev Desert as a wine region.
- The designation stretches from Kiryat Gat to Eilat, covering about 60 % of Israel and encompassing more than 60 wineries that produce over one million bottles each year.
- Officials expect the status to boost tourism, attract investment and raise Israel’s wine profile alongside Champagne, Chianti, Bordeaux and Napa Valley.
