5/21/2026, 9:30:59 PM

Context & Roster

Pacific Music Group (PMG) launched Family Style Records, a hip-hop imprint led by MC Jin, in May 2026 for AAPI Heritage Month. The imprint debuted with Jin’s single “Humble Flex” and a roster: MC Jin, Lil Cherry and Goldbuuda, Indonesian rapper Nada (Askana), and rapper Khantrast.

Family Style operates under PMG, a Hong Kong-based firm founded in 2025 by Ne-Yo, MC Jin, Sonu Nigam and Jonathan Serbin to amplify boundary-pushing hip-hop from Asia. MC Jin gained U.S. fame in 2002 with seven BET Freestyle Friday wins, later signing to Ruff Ryders and releasing *The Rest Is History* (2004, Billboard 200 #54). Lil Cherry and Goldbuuda are Korean; Nada signed a 360-deal with PMG; Khantrast, managed exclusively for Asia, is noted for anime-inspired freestyles and bilingual English-Mandarin lyrics.

Market Impact

The four-act roster includes Nada, who has 450 k Instagram and 600 k TikTok followers. PMG runs hubs in Japan, China, Korea, India and Southeast Asia and added K-pop star Tiffany Young, underscoring its goal to shape a global hip-hop force within the decade.

Leadership Commentary

MC Jin described the label as a shared meal that lets artists “cook up authentic flavors” worldwide. Jonathan Serbin noted a vision for hip-hop’s rise in Asia and expansion. Goldbuuda called the partnership a new era, citing Jin as his high-school hero.

Verbatim Quotes

  • “The idea of everyone coming together for a meal really captures the spirit of what Hip-Hop means to me. With the launch of the label, our goal is to provide artists an opportunity to continue cooking up authentic flavors for the world audience. Family Style. Everybody eats!” — MC Jin, President, Family Style Records
  • “On a personal note, the launch of Family Style Records is meaningful and timely as we approach the 25th anniversary of when the world got introduced to a young Chinese kid who raps on BET. Together with Pacific Music Group, we invite you to join us at the table, explore the flavors and be part of the fam where ‘Everybody Eats,'” — MC Jin
  • “MC Jin and PMG share a vision about Hip-Hop’s rise in Asia, and Jin’s own involvement has been a big part of that. With Asian style and culture already influencing global Hip-Hop trends, this market is set to become a global force within this decade,” — Jonathan Serbin, Co-Founder, PMG
  • “MC Jin was my high school hero – the one who put early Asian pride in our hearts by winning BET Freestyle Friday 7 times in a row. I watched every single one. That energy raised me. Now, two decades later, we’re on the same label… like two different multiverses merging into one. This is our new era,” — Goldbuuda, Artist
